Welcome to the York Suite

Q. How do I get referred to the York Suite?

A. In most cases you will require a referral from your own doctor. This is to help us understand your medical history and ensure appropriate treatment is carried out.

Q. What should I bring to hospital with me?
A. Please bring a dressing gown, nightwear, slippers, toiletries including a shaving kit, spectacles and other aids. Please also bring any books, magazines, reading or writing material, sewing or knitting that you may wish to use.

Q. Where can I park?
A. Prior to admission, a permit allowing you or your visitors to park in Zone 1 or the pay and display areas will be sent with your admission details. A map of the areas covered by your permit is included in the information provided.

Q. What happens when I arrive?
A. On arrival at the York Suite, you will be escorted to your private room.

Q. Will my family and friends be able to visit?
A. Visiting times are unrestricted and we welcome guests throughout your stay. However, it is important to stress that after a major operation, only close family should visit for short periods for the first two to three days. You will need plenty of rest and quiet during this post-operative period.

Q. Do I have access to a telephone?
A. There is a telephone in every private room, which can be used for making external calls and also for receiving incoming calls.

Q. What food can I order?
A. Our extensive à la carte menu and wine list offer the highest standards of cuisine, freshly prepared to your individual requirements and served in your room by one of our own hostesses. Special dietary needs are easily catered for.

Q. How can I have an operation without medical cover?
A. We provide special all-inclusive package deals for most surgical procedures, please contact us for further details.

Q. How do I pay for my treatment?

A. Package deals must be paid for in advance. Payment must be made by cash, credit card or cheque. Any sundry items must be paid for on discharge.

Q. Can I choose my own date and time for admission?
A. We endeavour to arrange your treatment to accommodate your own personal timetable.

Q. What if I am taking medication?
A. You must always check with your consultant whether to take your regular medication. You will be asked to bring your normal medications with you on the day of admission.
