How do I get referred to the York Suite?

A. In most cases you
will require a referral from your own doctor. This is to help us
understand your medical history and ensure appropriate treatment is
carried out.

| Q. What should I bring to
hospital with me?
|
| A. Please bring a dressing
gown, nightwear, slippers, toiletries including a shaving kit,
spectacles and other aids. Please also bring any books, magazines,
reading or writing material, sewing or knitting that you may wish to
use.

| Q. Where can I
park?
|
| A. Prior to admission, a
permit allowing you or your visitors to park in Zone 1 or the pay
and display areas will be sent with your admission details. A map of
the areas covered by your permit is included in the information
provided.

| Q. What happens when I
arrive?
|
| A. On arrival at the York
Suite, you will be escorted to your private room.
|
|
|
| Q. Will my family and
friends be able to visit?
|
| A. Visiting times are
unrestricted and we welcome guests throughout your stay. However, it
is important to stress that after a major operation, only close
family should visit for short periods for the first two to three
days. You will need plenty of rest and quiet during this
post-operative period.

| Q. Do I have access to
a telephone?
|
| A. There is a telephone in
every private room, which can be used for making external calls and
also for receiving incoming calls.
|
|

| Q. What food can I
order?
|
| A. Our extensive à la carte
menu and wine list offer the highest standards of cuisine, freshly
prepared to your individual requirements and served in your
room by one of our own hostesses. Special dietary needs are easily
catered for.

| Q. How can I have an
operation without medical cover?
|
| A. We provide special
all-inclusive package deals for most surgical procedures, please
contact us for further details.

| Q. How do I pay for my
treatment?
|
|
A. Package deals must be paid for
in advance. Payment must be made by cash, credit card or cheque. Any
sundry items must be paid for on discharge.

| Q. Can I choose my own
date and time for admission?
|
| A. We endeavour to arrange
your treatment to accommodate your own personal
timetable.
|

|
| Q. What
if I am taking medication?
|
| A. You must always check
with your consultant whether to take your regular medication. You
will be asked to bring your normal medications with you on the day
of admission.
